William Shakespeare's book sells for $ 9.97 million


A copy of English playwright William Shakespeare's debut drama collection sold for $ 9.97 million at auction in New York, a record sales figure for a literary work ever.

The work is a collection of 36 plays, printed in 1623 and published after the death of William Shakespeare (1564-1616), by two friends of the author John Heminge and Henry Condell.

The copy sold, is one of six existing copies now held by private collectors.
