African-American Asya Branch crowned "Miss USA 2020"
22-year-old Asya Branch has been announced "Miss USA 2020".
The beauty, who was crowned American beauty queen, is the first African-American to represent the state in the annual competition, and it is also the first time a Mississippi contestant has won the title.
Miss Idaho USA, Kim Layne, was chosen the first escort, while Miss Oklahoma USA, Mariah Jane Davis, was chosen the second escort.
After receiving the crown, Branch made a statement in which he emphasized the weapons and the care that must be shown for trading and obtaining a license to use them.
"As someone who grew up in a house with a gun, I learned at an early age how to load, how to shoot and how to put a gun in the safe," she said. "And I think education should be available to everyone. "I believe we need to ask people to take training and security courses before they are allowed to buy a weapon and before they get a license to use it."
"I think it is important that we do not stop weapons, because no doubt people will find a way to get what they want anyway," she continued. "But I think our second amendment is right and we just need more certainty about that."
